Free AI relighting

Relight anime art

Drop a picture and move the light: soft or cel shading, rim light, cast shadows and coloured lights. Free, right in your browser.

How it works

  1. 1

    Drop a picture

Any anime or drawn picture, or one of your creations. A clip works too.

  2. 2

    Move the lights

Drag up to six lights over it. Scroll on one to raise it, or bring it behind your character for a backlight.

  3. 3

    Keep it

Download the relit picture as a PNG, or export a relit clip as MP4.

What it does

The light of a 3D scene on a flat drawing: it reads the depth of your picture and lights it like a set. Already in the studio? Relight is in Enhance too.

Eight looks in one click

Anime standard, soft daylight, sunset backlight, night neon, hard cel light, window light, komorebi, cinematic. Then tune every setting.

Rim light and backlight

A light behind the character outlines it with a glow, the way anime scenes are lit.

Cel or soft shading

Flat cel steps with a coloured shadow, or a smooth gradient. The line art always stays clean.

Light of any shape

Point, spot, sun, or an area light: a panel, a box, a tube or a sphere, sized and turned in 3D. Light through a window, blinds or leaves. Up to six lights.

3D form

Turn on 3D normals and the light wraps around faces, hands and folds.

Clips too

Relight every frame of a short clip and export it as MP4, sound included.

Questions

Is it free?

Pictures are free: five relights a day without an account, many more with a free account. Clips cost 10 coins a second.

Is my picture stored?

No. It is sent to our GPU to read its depth and comes straight back; the lighting runs in your browser and nothing is kept.

Does it work on photos?

It is made for anime and drawn art: that is what its depth reading and line-art protection are tuned for. Clips must be drawn or animated.

Which browsers?

Any recent Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari, on a computer or a phone (it needs WebGL 2).

Where does the lighting model come from?

It is a port of relight-anime, an open-source (MIT) After Effects plugin, itself built on TypeGPU's Monocular Light Injection.
